Midsummer's Night celebrates summer blossoms in shades of pink, bright magenta, rose, coral, bubblegum, and fuchsia. And the beauty of a deep night sky shifting through violet, amethyst, plum, and the deepest purple and eggplant.

This scarf is woven from a light weight yarn for the warp (the fibers running the length of the scarf) and a fine yarn for the weft (the fibers filling in side to side). The spacing of the warp and the softly beaten weft combine to create a light, almost airy scarf which is very pliable with a wonderful ability to drape. Both warp and weft threads have been hand painted with 7 shades in one color family which results in subtle to strong color variations bringing wonderful depth and life to the scarf. Each scarf has a hand manipulated accent at either end to add an interesting and unique detail.

Each scarf is handwoven with care, in my Southern California Studio, from beautiful hand dyed yarns I have purchased. I take great delight and deliberation in the planning of the finished color interactions as well as the final texture and drape of the scarves. I like to create my scarves with a comfortable width and generous length while offering a variety of stylish options to accessorize any outfit and still provide significant warmth from cool breezes and frigid climes.

The yarn is made of merino wool* with a touch of nylon, for added strength . *Merino Wool comes from Merino sheep, a special breed. It is known for being the softest of any sheep’s wool. Its insulating properties help regulate body temperatures, providing warmth without overheating the wearer, especially when worn against the skin. It also displays a lovely luster, and draws moisture away from the skin, a phenomenon known as wicking.
