Midsummer . . . Summer solstice, the longest day of the year. So begins the waning sun as we celebrate this magical night. It is a time for faerie magic, celebration of light and good for divination. Flowers and plants are in their full glory, and animal babies are growing fast. This is also the perfect day for herbal, plant, and stone magic. The longest day of the year waxing imparts great strength and power to magical components. Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is represented on this quilt with Puck’s closing lines quoted with the Faerie.
On this quilt are a henge, Thor’s hammer, sunflowers, and a faerie, as well as the pentacle, tree in season, and Sabbat name.
This is a PATTERN for a 24” X 30” appliqué quilted wall hanging.
It is one of a series of eight (8) that represent each of the eight pagan Sabbats (Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lammas, and Mabon).
Due to the complexity of some of the shapes, it is recommended for intermediate quilters who have some experience in fusible applique.
Images for tracing are included for all applique shapes.
Also listed on each pattern are the yardage requirements for both the backgrounds and appliques as well as border, binding and backing for each quilt. Each of the Sabbat quilts is an original design and tested extensively.
The designs of each one include a pentacle, the name of the Sabbat, and a tree that changes on each quilt to reflect the appropriate season.
